Self-care Is Not Selfish

How often have you felt you couldn't do one more thing on your to-do list? Have you ever wished you could blink your eyes and be on a beach somewhere? My favorite, have you ever said out loud, Calgon, take me away!
All of us, especially women, need to care for ourselves and pay attention to our unique needs. Self-care by dentition means taking care of your mind, body, and Spirit. It focuses on reducing stress and learning how to relax and celebrate yourself. Many people do this by taking a long bubble bath, meditation, doing yoga, or taking a relaxing vacation. The more you listen inwardly, you will find the perfect way to indulge and reignite yourself. There is no one right way to take care of yourself. You have to see what rejuvenates you.
None of this is selfish. But unfortunately, we live in a world where we are busy every second of the day. Our to-do lists are a mile long, and we try to accomplish everything on that list in one day. We take no breaks. Our jobs squeeze every bit of life out of us. Our families demand our attention 24 hours a day. So we slowly get lost in all of the noise and lose ourselves. We lose sight of what's essential. We'll work ourselves into an early grave if we're not careful.
This week pick one self-care activity and incorporate it into your daily routine. Slowly start to put yourself first. If you don't put yourself first, you'll be no good for anyone else. Besides, with all that you do, you deserve to pamper yourself.
